The Easter Bunny Train Ride & Easter Egg Hunt

March 23 - 31, 2024

Visit with Mr. Bunny while riding in "historical" style on board a steam locomotive, managed by the Delaware Railroad Excursions. Soak up the spring sights as the train travels along the Delaware River from Phillipsburg to Carpentersville, NJ. The National Park Service says you might spot threatened birds like the great blue heron, upland sandpiper, northern harrier, and red-headed woodpecker.

The Easter Egg Hunt

Indulge in the fresh air and delight in the spectacle of brightly colored eggs strewn artfully across the meadow. After taking a picture with Mr. Bunny, the children grab their baskets and begin the hunt for candy-filled Easter eggs! Once the candy is "secured," let the skilled jugglers and singing hobos captivate the children. Watch a video.

More Details

Board the train at Phillipsburg, NJ just 30 minutes from the Pocono Mountains, and midway between Philadelphia and New York City. Exit the train in front of the Carpentersville Lime Kilns, where they extracted lime from limestone. The lime was then used in fertilizer, mortar, whitewash, and leather processing. The lime kilns are not only the oldest but also the largest left in existence in New Jersey, dating to before the Revolutionary War!
